Para reflotar la democracia

Lo primero me parece es entender que en
nuestros días la democracia ha fenecido y ha mutado en cleptocracia, es
decir, gobierno de ladrones de libertades, de propiedades y de sueños de
vida. Al efecto de tener esto claro es pertinente tener grabado a fuego
el pensamiento de uno de los preclaros exponentes de la revolución más
exitosa de lo que va de la historia de la humanidad. Me refiero a Thomas
Jefferson quien consignó en Notes on Virginia (1782) que “Un despotismo
electo no es el gobierno por el que luchamos” pero eso es en lo que se
ha transformado, no solo en buena parte de la región latinoamericana,
sino en países europeos y en la propia tierra de Jefferson.

hay cientos de presos políticos y no hay elecciones libres por más de 53 años y

lo que ve está mal y vivir en una choza que es producto del embargo, por culpa del embargo no podemos hablar en la radio nacional
de Cuba para denunciar los problemas sociales y políticos que nos afectan a
diario, es ese embargo el que nos prohíbe la internet ,la televisión del mundo
libre, la prensa internacional ,los libros de Carlos Alberto Montaner y
Vargas Llosa.
. Por culpa del embargo no hay papa, boniato, plátano, maíz, arroz,
sal, azúcar, frijoles ,tomates, pepinos y todo lo que se da en la tierra cubana
porque el embargo mantiene impedido al campesino de sembrar y vender por la libre a los
cubanos sus productos ,

Si el presidente Barack Obama designa Secretario
de Estado al senador John Kerry para reemplazar a Hillary Clinton cuando
inicie su segundo mandato el mes próximo, tal como prevén los
funcionarios de la administración, es posible que veamos un leve aumento
de la atención que Estados Unidos le presta a Latinoamérica.
No es
que Kerry sea un experto en la región, ni que esté más interesado que
Clinton en los asuntos latinoamericanos. No lo está, como tampoco lo
estuvieron Hillary Clinton, ni su antecesora.

The poll of 500 registered voters shows that if the special election were held today, Brown would defeat a "generic" Democratic candidate by a 47% to 39% margin.
Where We Stand on the 'Fiscal Cliff'

With the obvious breakdown in talks between President Obama and Republicans on the "fiscal cliff", Speaker Boehner is moving forward today with his "Plan B." The House will vote today on two pieces of legislation: one to extend Bush-era tax rates for everyone earning less than $1 million a year, and a measure to replace the planned Sequestration cuts with a broad range of spending cuts. Further negotiations on the "fiscal cliff" will likely be put off until after Christmas.
Gallup: Americans Want Mental Health Laws, Police, Not Banning Guns
Despite the attempts by the Left to use the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut to forward their anti-gun agenda, Americans feel that there are other avenues they would rather explore to protect to innocent children, according to a new Gallup Poll. In order of preference, the poll shows that 53% of Americans would favor an increased police presence at schools, 50% wanted to increase government spending on mental health screening and treatment, 47% thought that gun violence on TV, in movies and in video games should be decreased, and 42% thought the sale of assault and semi-automatic guns should be banned.

While the media seizes on the tragedy in Connecticut to tell us that Americans have now largely turned a corner and thrown away their love for 2nd Amendment freedoms, reality tells us something completely different.
The reality is that "8,000 new members" have the joined the National Rifle Association (NRA) every day since the terrible crime at Sandy Hook Elementary School was committed.To be clear, NRA membership always grows in the days after any incident where gun rights are called into question. But reports indicate that these numbers -- 8,000 a day -- "dwarf past trends."
Perhaps the aftermath of this incident is different because it's one in which the public has a growing knowledge that gun bans, gun-free school zones, and restrictions on law-abiding citizens have only fueled crime by providing the mentally ill and criminally-minded with helpless, soft targets that they can strike at will?
The message 8,000 new NRA members a day is sending is clear: Enough is enough. Gun control is not the answer, law-abiding citizens owning and carrying guns for their own defense is.

Scandalous Regulators
Editor's Note: Business scandals often lead to calls for greater
regulation. Yet, as economist Mark Thornton shows, in so many recent
scandals, regulators have been among the chief culprits.
The Democratic Party had its message on the economy well-prepared for
the recent election. From President Obama to his campaign directors to
campaign
advisor-hacks, all the way down to the local party patsies, the message
was uniform and well rehearsed. “We do not want to return to the failed
economic
policies of four years ago. Those policies caused the economic crisis
that almost put the country back in a great depression. We cannot return
to the naïve
policy that deregulation is good for the economy.
The Romney campaign essentially left this crucial talking point unchallenged. When confronted with this charge from the Obama campaign, Romney’s response was to concede that capitalism requires regulation to work, but to insist that the regulation cannot be excessive and burdensome, or ultimately the consumer will be hurt.

The indifference which seems to pervade many libertarian circles
regarding recent gun control laws—laws which are likely to forge the
final links on the chains shackled to the average American citizen—is
dangerously surprising. Apparently no one perceives the importance of
what has occurred.
Few realize the extreme shackles placed on actual or potential gun owners by the acts snowballing into the Gun Control Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-618). To purchase a gun one must make a sworn statement of identity, which is sent to the local police chief—who decides whether the applicant may own a gun on the basis of whether he is a “law-abiding” citizen (i.e., if he obeys every order of the power elite). Firearm ownership is denied to convicted felons, dishonorably discharged veterans, aliens illegally in the U. S., and former citizens who have renounced their citizenship, viz., all potential opposers of the Establishment. Users of “dangerous drugs” like pot, anyone under 21, as well as many others are also denied the right of ownership. Ownership of fully automatic, large caliber, or other firearms is absolutely prohibited to everyone but the State.

How Much Did I Accomplish?
In many ways, according to conventional wisdom, my off-and-on career in Congress, from 1976 to 2012, accomplished very little. No named legislation, no named federal buildings or highways—thank goodness. In spite of my efforts, the government has grown exponentially, taxes remain excessive, and the prolific increase of incomprehensible regulations continues. Wars are constant and pursued without Congressional declaration, deficits rise to the sky, poverty is rampant and dependency on the federal government is now worse than any time in our history.All this with minimal concerns for the deficits and unfunded liabilities that common sense tells us cannot go on much longer. A grand, but never mentioned, bipartisan agreement allows for the well-kept secret that keeps the spending going. One side doesn’t give up one penny on military spending, the other side doesn’t give up one penny on welfare spending, while both sides support the bailouts and subsidies for the banking and corporate elite. And the spending continues as the economy weakens and the downward spiral continues. As the government continues fiddling around, our liberties and our wealth burn in the flames of a foreign policy that makes us less safe.

El Senado rechaza la decisión británica por considerarla una provocación. Buenos Aires reivindica la soberanía de ese territorio
El Reino Unido ha conseguido lo que parecía imposible en
Argentina: unir al oficialismo y a la oposición. ¿El motivo? No podía
ser otro que una condena a la decisión del Gobierno británico de bautizar «Tierra de la Reina Isabel» a un sector de la Antártida
que reivindica como propio Argentina. El Senado argentino declaró, por
unanimidad, rechazar la decisión de Londres al considerarla una
auténtica provocación porque, «desconoce la historia argentina» que «considera a esta parte del territorio como propia». En simultáneo, la Cámara Alta ratificó la soberanía sobre el archipiélago de las Islas Malvinas.
El malestar por la decisión de Londres es general.
Independiente de colores e ideologías, cualquier gesto o manifestación
británica que roce el tema Malvinas genera crispación y abre las heridas
de una guerra de la que este año se cumplieron treinta años. Eso explica el frente común de oficialismo y oposición dentro y fuera del Poder Legislativo.
